Would like to make an App

One thing that I want to do is to develop an iPhone App, the only thing is that I don’t what kind of App that I want to develop. Though, I could make an app for the sake of making one.

This is one of those times where I want to do something, so I can learn how to do something, but at the sometime I don’t have enough reason to start something – yet.

If I do develop an App I may post something, but doing something like this in not a priority at this time.

Recently I signed up for Dropbox.com and I found it useful since I found a way to save and since saved photo’s off of my iPad. Then after doing that I found through the Apple discussion forums I found out that I could have use iPhoto that came with my Mac Laptop. It was a “discovery” or a “ah-ha” moment on my part that “should have” made about a year ago.

It’s when I have these “ah-ha” moments that I feel behind the time’s or I could have looked up on the web sooner but didn’t.

By using Dropbox, I found a work around to get pictures that I took on to my iPad. Even though I could sync picture’s with Aperture through iTunes and every time I do that I keep getting an error message about needing to delete pictures from my iPad. I have used the Photo Stream (from of iCloud) and have some saved photos already on my iPad, still iTunes wants to delete pictures that have been synced with iCloud. So, in the end I found a way to get pictures on to my iPad without the possibility deleting any pictures on the iPad.

Though I signed up at a time that I’m unable to pay for the monthly fee for Dropbox. I’ve been looking to use the Amazon Cloud Drive and use that for the rest of my photos since I would be able to pay (I like to pay on a yearly basis) for the size I need. I know I could use blank DVDs to back up my pictures, along with some stuff from my computer.

In the end I might just end up using both services (Dropbox and Amazon Cloud Drive), one as a free service and the later one as a paid service at some point.

Though at this point I’m rambling on to much with this topic.

later.

Itunes 7.5

When installing updates to programs on a computer whether its a Windows PC or on a Macintosh computer there’s always a chance that any upgrade would go wrong. I got around upgrading iTunes to version 7.5 on my Windows PC and after the installer updated Quicktime I kept getting errors that were important iTunes files that weren’t found in order to run. After looking in the support forums on Apple’s website and from what I could tell that there seems to a problem with part of the update installation package. While reading the posts on the iTunes forum it seemed – to me at least – that the problem lied with the Quicktime installation of the iTunes package.

It seems that the only way to “fix” this problem if upgraded to iTunes 7.5 while getting various errors is to downgrade to install an earlier version of Quicktime – like version 7.2 – I think is the last version that is / was available.

The thing is that I didn’t get any errors while upgrading iTunes on my MacBook Pro lapto. It also seems like that 9 out of 10 times there are no problems while the remaining time there is a problem while upgrading software and or hardware. But then I never really liked to get my hands “dirty” that much while doing upgrades in some matter on my computers whether its my Macintosh computers or my PC.

These problems happened after I got my PC back from the repair shop, while this problem while upgrading to the current version of iTunes I thought to myself that I don’t need to take the computer back into the repair shop just yet. The only “major” things to do on my PC is get another hard drive (larger hard drive – like around 500GB – would be nice), and get some expansion ports put in, and a new video card too. But those upgrades would have to wait. Though I would have preferred to have or get things done at the same time but things like this never do, and yet it might be to much to do everything at once. After doing this next set upgrades would be it for my PC in regards to hardware upgrades.

Though I’m thinking of getting a new Windows PC at some point over the next couple of years but at this point I’m not certain if its going to happen. If I do get a new PC, I think I would try to get a mid-range system that would have a number of possible upgrades that I could do, I’ll just see what happens over the next couple of years about getting a new PC.

bye for now

I got a new MacBook Pro

Yesturday I picked up a newly ordered an Apple 17″ MacBook Pro with a Intel processer and with 2GB of memory though I placed the order for this computer – which I’m writing this post with – a couple of days before classes startes at UAF. I finally picked it up yesturday and spent the night – well into the night of updating software, installing, and downloading some free software last night. Granted, it helps that I have a dsl connection to the internet which made downloading updates to the Mac OS X some what in a quicker time than with a dail-up connection. Anyways, I’ll hopefully be putting some picture’s up while I was unpacking the computer and after it got to the desktop.

Frankly, its much nicer to use a Mac after a couple years of using a Windows PC. Granted I’ll be using this portable mainly for school for the next couple of years and for a couple of years after that. Though it would take some time to get used to using the keyboard and this laptop – well maybe longer than a while because its the largest laptop that Apple makes.

Another reason that I got the largest MacBook Pro is that I’m thinking of having my major in Photography/Photojournalism and or in New Media in the journalism department at uaf but at this point I haven’t “offically” declared my major yet. I’ll make the final decsion after this semster is over with and after on how well I’ll do in the math class that I’m in.

Another Interesting Apple story…

I found an interesting story about Apple and how its use in some business fields. Where it could be easier to manage Apple based system than Windows based systems. This article also says that Apple systems are much safer than Windows system too.

But then you could be the judge of this story and say what you could want about Apple Computer.
